ULAK Communication Inc. was established by Defense Industry Technologies Inc. (SSTEK) on April 20, 2017, to conduct R&D and engineering activities for mobile and broadband communication systems used by commercial network operators; to manufacture, test, assemble and integrate, sell and market, import and export these systems and spare parts; and to provide training, maintenance and support services. ASELSAN acquired 51% of ULAK Communication Inc.'s shares from SSTEK on October 1, 2018. HAVELSAN Inc. acquired 25% of ULAK Communication Inc.'s shares from SSTEK on February 10, 2020.

ULAK Base Station, a national and domestically produced product of Turkey, was developed by NETAŞ and ARGELA companies together with ASELSAN as the main contractor. The developed base station solutions meet the communication demands of civil security, public security, and military sectors.

ULAK base stations are also actively used in the commercial areas of established operators in Turkey, namely Türk Telekom, Turkcell, and Vodafone. Furthermore, ULAK base stations are utilized in the Evrensel 1, Evrensel 2, and Evrensel 3 projects, which are Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure projects aimed at installing base stations in rural areas.

ULAK's 5G base station development efforts have leveraged its 4.5G product development experience, field experience, and advantages stemming from similarities between technologies, resulting in technological gains for R&D processes in 5G and beyond technology studies. In addition to its software and hardware development experience, ULAK base stations, which have been providing live service for a long time, offer 24/7 alarm and performance monitoring support, quickly resolving any problems. In addition to its base station product for mobile networks, ULAK Communications also offers corporate customers SDN-based wide area network (SD-WAN), software-defined data center (SD-DC), and software-defined security (SD-Security) solutions. Many institutions and organizations in Turkey use these products in their infrastructure.
