Our company is a spin-off of the Özyeğin University Optical Wireless Communication Technologies Center of Excellence (OKATEM). Established in September 2015 with approximately 1.5 million TL in financial support from the Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA), OKATEM is Türkiye's first R&D laboratory operating in the field of optical wireless communication (OW). To transform the R&D work carried out within OKATEM into final products and commercialize them, our company, Hyperion Technology, commenced operations in January 2017.
Optical wireless communication (OWC) is a newly emerging technology that enables wireless transmission using infrared, visible, or ultraviolet frequencies. OWC is divided into two separate categories depending on the type and wavelength of the transmitter used. The first is visible light communication (VLC) systems, which provide wireless communication using LEDs as transmitters in the visible light frequency range. The second is free space optical (FSO) communication systems, which provide point-to-point transmission using laser transmitters in the infrared frequency range. Our company develops VLC and FSO systems for various applications.
